RLW Roofing was appointed by Speller Metcalfe to deliver the roofing and cladding package for the new Midland Boat Station in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This state-of-the-art facility has been developed as a dedicated water sports training hub and residential centre, supporting up to 1,500 cadets.
Designed to host a wide range of activities – including dinghy sailing, paddle sports, powerboating, rowing, and windsurfing – the facility also provides a permanent home for Birmingham Vernon Sea Cadets. Beyond its primary use, the boat station will serve as a valuable community asset, offering space for local groups, schools, and charities.
Roofing Works
RLW installed a high-performance Euroseam Elite Plus standing seam metal roofing system, delivering both durability and a striking architectural finish in keeping with the building’s modern design.
To the terrace area, a Sika Sarnafil mechanically fixed single ply membrane was installed, providing a robust and weather-resistant waterproofing solution. A composite decking system was also incorporated, creating a practical and low-maintenance surface for users.

Cladding & Fabrication
P&H Fabrications fabricated and supplied a bespoke Alupan cassette cladding system, designed to complement the overall aesthetic of the building. This included integrated feature bands, aluminium fascias, and rainwater goods, all manufactured to ensure a cohesive and high-quality finish.
