RLW Roofing was appointed by Vinci Construction to deliver the roofing package for the Edward Street Hospital project in West Bromwich. This healthcare development required robust, high-performance roofing solutions alongside high-quality finishes. The project formed part of improvements to the hospital estate, with RLW responsible for the installation of a hotmelt roofing system and associated external works. Our scope included waterproofing, edge detailing, parapet systems, and bespoke fabricated features, all delivered to the exacting standards required within the healthcare sector.
RLW installed the IKO Permatec hotmelt roofing system, providing a fully bonded, durable waterproofing solution well suited to healthcare environments due to its proven longevity and reliability. The system was finished with a combination of paving and gravel finishes, creating both functional roof areas and protected zones while ensuring effective drainage and maintenance access.
To complete the roof build-up, Europanel insulated parapet systems were installed to achieve thermal continuity and compliance with current building regulations. These were finished with PPC aluminium cappings, delivering a clean, durable edge detail with long-term performance and minimal maintenance requirements.
In addition to the primary roofing works, RLW coordinated the supply and installation of several bespoke elements fabricated in-house by P&H Fabrications. These included custom-made iroko timber benches and corten steel planters, which enhanced the usability and visual appeal of the external spaces while complementing the overall architectural design.
RLW’s involvement at Edward Street Hospital demonstrates our ability to deliver technically demanding roofing solutions within a live healthcare environment. Through careful coordination with Vinci Construction and in-house specialist fabricators, the project was completed to a high standard, combining robust waterproofing performance with high-quality architectural finishes.
